Although downloading instructions are included on the CD of every Vimala font for both Windows and Mac, at times a computer may be resistant. This page is designed to help you overcome any frustration that might occur, answer your questions, and show you how to download the font effortlessly.

Macintosh
Q - Why was it easy to download the Vimala font on my Mac OS X, but now that I upgraded to  OS 10.4.8,  I'm having trouble getting the font to download?

A - It appears that the font cache can become corrupt -- especially if you were running a version of OS X before 10.4.8.

First try downloading "FontExplorer X" from the site above and install the Vimala font using it. "Activate" the TrueType version of the font and you will be able to see/use it in Microsoft Word.  Prior to clearing the caches, chances are you were not able to see it.

Step 1 : Make a folder containing all the font parts and point the installer to that folder when the installer asks for additional folders.
Step 2: Be sure to "clean" your font caches -- this should allow the font to work. Before you do this, quit all open applications.

Linux
Q - I use a Linux computer and can't figure out how to download the Vimala font. Are they compatible?

There are unfortunately many "flavors" of Linux (RedHat, SuSE, Ubuntu,
Debian, etc.) and many versions of each, so just one Linux instruction
probably won't cover it all.  But here are some links that cover the

It seems that Postscript fonts have ubiquitous support, while TT fonts
do not.
